The need: A long-term care facility designed around the special needs of elderly residents with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia.

The solution: A 42-unit assisted living residence with a 52-bed inpatient Alzheimer’s wing designed around the concept of individual cottages that are light and airy, and which offer a comfortable, homey feeling.

The cottages all have private front porches, and they branch off from a central “town center” that contains a general store, hotel lobby, library, soda shop, chapel, beauty parlor, and work shop.
